The Sports Union Executive is made up of eight students that are democratically elected at the Annual General Meeting held in February for the following year’s period of office.
The Sports Union President is elected each year for a one year full time (paid) position and is assisted by the Executive, made up of seven elected student volunteers covering a range of positions.
The role of the ‘SU Exec’ is to represent all students participating in University of Dundee Sports Union clubs and activities. They are also integral to assisting and promoting the development and organisation of Sports Union activities, events and initiatives.
SU Exec Roles and current holders
Sports Union President
President is the only student-elected sabbatical role in SU exec. Alex is a full-time leader of the SU, responsible for overall running of the exec and is the representative of the SU for any external bodies.
He’s responsible for driving engagement in sport through the Charity Relay in first semester along with Varsity in second semester. He also sits on the Blues & Colours committee and supports the President in their duties.
Responsible for organising the two big social events of the year, the SU Ceilidh and the Blues & Colours Ball. She also supports the President in their role and sits on the committee for awarding Blues & Colours
As Honorary Secretary this year, Eleanor is responsible for keeping recorded minutes of all discussion, planning and achievement at Sports Union related meetings.
Campus Sport Officer
As Campus Sport Officer this year, Lizzie is responsible for driving engagement in Dundee sport, from students of member clubs to students outwith the Sports Union! Over the course of the year she will be organising one off tournaments in a variety of sports.
Aaron who is responsible for looking after all the Sports Union vehicles! He checks all submitted forms and ensures that if there are any problems, they are addressed as quickly as possible.
Communications and Promotion Officer
He’s tasked with running all of the Sports Union social media and website, along with creating promotional content for sport at Dundee.
Responsible for securing sponsorship deals on behalf of the SU along with supporting clubs with their finance and sponsorship applications.
Standing for a role
All roles can only be held by students who are matriculated members of the SU.
To stand for a Vice-President role, the individual must have been on a club committee for at least one year.
To stand for president, that person must have been a member of an SU club for two academic years and sat on the committee of the club for a minimum of two years.

Who can vote in the elections?
Only University of Dundee students who are matriculated members of a Sports Unions club may vote in the Sports Union Elections.
How to vote?
Elections will be done online, with voting going live on Thursday 21 February at 5pm and close, twenty four hours later, on Friday 22 at 5pm
The results of the positions will be announced at the DUSA hustings, to be held on Friday 22 February.
