Roles and Responsibilities

President (Full Time Sabbatical Position):
- Manage the relationships between the Sports Union and sport clubs
- Take a lead role, alongside staff members in the delivery of club development projects
- Promote the Sports Union to all students at the University of Dundee
- Be the face of the Sports Union at public and University specific engagements
- Represent the Sports Union on external bodies such as SSS – and attend all appropriate SSS meetings, including the Sabbatical Students forum and BUCS
- Attend and represent on internal bodies such as DUSA: Student Representative Council (SRC), DUSA Exec meetings and University liaison meetings
- Chair including but not limited to; Sports Union Council, Annual General Meeting, Executive Committee Meetings, Finance Committee Meetings and Blues and Colours Committee Meetings
- Manage relationship with the ISE, Senior management and Scottish and British universities
- Oversee planning and development
- Oversee the delivery of the University of Dundee’s Sports Union aims and constitution ensuring proper policy and procedure
- Maintain up-to date records of the University of Dundee’s Sports Union constitution, alongside policy and procedure documents
- Oversee club discipline issues
- Support on the delivery of the Varsity; Abertay vs Dundee
- Support on the delivery of the Sports Union Ceilidh/dinner (semester 1) and Blues and Colours Ball (semester 2)
- Support the delivery and development of Executive members
- Work with DUSA to deliver and develop; student welfare initiatives (mental health etc.) and representation (LGBT+ etc.)
- Responsible for supporting health and well-being initiatives run by SSS

VP Sport:
The vice president of sport works closely with all sports union members and staff throughout the year, whilst being guided through their role. You will pick up multiple skills such as event management and gaining knowledge of multiple sports. You are expected to contribute to financial decisions and blues and colours decisions. Good organisation and team work are key to success in this role.
Main Responsibilities:
- Organisation and delivery of a sports day that encourages participation across all sports (Charity Relay) which promotes community engagement by donating funds to a local charity
- Organisation of the Varsity Challenge against Abertay University
- Attend all Sports Union events and assist at these events at the discretion of the President
- Attend any other relevant events and meetings at the discretion of the president
- Sit on the Blues & Colours committee and finance committee in a voting capacity
- Attend all Sports Union executive meetings and Sports Union council meetings
- To exercise the powers and fulfil the duties of the President in their absence
- To help executive members with their duties, along with being the next in line, should the President require help or assistance

VP Events:
The vice president of events works closely with all sports union members and staff throughout the year, whilst being guided through their role. You will pick up multiple skills such as event management. You are expected to contribute to financial decisions and blues and colours decisions. Good organisation and team work are key to success in this role.
Main Responsibilities:
- Organisation and delivery of a Sports Union Dinner/Ceilidh in first semester
- Organisation and delivery of Blues & Colours Awards Ball
- Attend all Sports Union events and assist at these events at the discretion of the president
- Attend any other relevant events and meetings at the discretion of the president
- Sit on the Blues & Colours committee and finance committee in a voting capacity
- Attend all Sports Union executive meetings and council meetings
- Exercise the powers and fulfil the duties of the President in their absence
- Help executive members with their duties, along with being the next in line should the President require help or assistance

Honorary Secretary:
The honorary secretary plays an important role in the executive committee, by attending all the Sports Union meetings and keeping recorded minutes of discussion, planning and achievement.
Main Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all Sports Union records and communications
- Sit on the Blues and Colours Committee and the Finance committee in a voting capacity and record accurate minutes
- Attend Sports Union executive meetings, Sports Union council meetings and record accurate minutes
- Attend all Sports Union events and assist at these events at the discretion of the President
- Be on hand to help executive members with their duties
- Must be able to work closely with the Sports Union administrator

Campus Sport Officer:
The campus sport officer provides a key role to encourage participation in sport at the University of Dundee, particularly attracting students outwith the Sports Union. They are responsible for organising one off tournaments in various sports throughout the year.
Main Responsibilities:
- Along with the Sports Union President taking responsibility for the organisation and delivery of the Sports Union Campus Sport events on Thursday nights (minimum 4)
- Work with the Sports Union President and ISE Management to organise and maintain the Campus Sport programme
- Liaise with ISE regarding facilities
- Liaise with food sponsors and collate prizes
- Promote Campus Sport events and encourage Sports Union clubs to get involved
- Attend all Sports Union events and assist at these events at the discretion of the President
- Attend any other relevant events and meetings at the discretion of the President
- Attend Sports Union executive meetings and council meetings
- Available to help executive members with their duties

Transport Officer:
The post holder must be over 21, have a 3-year driving experience and hold a clean driving licence. This can be at the discretion of the Sports Union President.
Main Responsibilities:
- Check the Sports Union vehicles to ensure they are road worthy. This is historically done on a Monday and Thursday (although not exclusively) in line with Sports Union Protocol
- Completion of a monthly transport sheet in line with University protocol
- To archive forms & check and replenish bus folders
- To drive the buses to and from the garage if required. This can be done at the discretion of the President
- To attend all Sports Union events and assist at these events at the discretion of the President
- Attend any other relevant events and meetings at the discretion of the President
- Attend Sports Union executive meetings and council meetings

Communications and Promotions Officer:
The communications and promotions officer is responsible for organising and guiding the Sports Union’s efforts to publicise itself and its activities. This includes gathering photographic and video coverage of fixtures and events and putting together publicity campaigns for the Sports Union. The communications and promotions officer with be strongly supported by the Sports Union President and will have access to all the Sports Union photographic equipment.
Main Responsibilities:
- To update the Sports Union website with relevant information by the start of the term and continually throughout the year at the discretion of the President
- Actively promote the Sports Union on social media; Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook
- Publish BUCS results and a SSS/local league/recreational results on a Monday/Tuesday and a Thursday
- Create promotional material to promote Sports Union events
- Attend all Sports Union events and assist at these events at the discretion of the President
- Attend all Sports Union executive meetings and council meetings.
- Available to help executive members with their duties

Finance Officer:
The finance officer will work closely with the Sports Union President, Executive Team, Honorary VPs, UoD External Relations Team, Sports Clubs, External Stakeholders and Local Businesses in order to secure sponsorship deals.
Main Responsibilities:
- Along with the Sports Union President taking responsibility for sponsorship for the Sports Union
- Along with the VP Sport looking into current options for Sponsorship for Varsity
- Along with the VP Events looking into current options for sponsorship for Blues and Colours Ball
- Work with the sports clubs with the aim to gain and attract sponsorship
- Attend all Sports Union events and assist at these events at the discretion of the President
- Attend all Sports Union executive meetings and council meetings.
